Pop star shaves head: Apology for breaking band rules

A pop star shaves her head after breaking the band rules according to BBC News. On Feb. 1, it was reported that Japanese pop star, Minami Minegishi, didn't want to leave the band AKB48 after she spent the night with a boyfriend. The band has a "no dating" clause so Minegishi could only do one thing to show that she was sorry. Head shaving in Japan is a traditional way to repent sins.

"Minegishi's apology came hours after a tabloid newspaper published photographs of her leaving the apartment of her boyfriend, Alan Shirahama, a dancer in a boy band," BBC News reported.

The pop star shaves her head and then makes a video for the world to see. This video has now gone viral. In the video Minami Minegishi cries, apologizes, and shows off her newly shaved head. It seems clear that she is extremely sorry for what she did, something that to many people wouldn't seem like a "sin" at all.

"If it is possible, I wish from the bottom of my heart to stay in the band. Everything I did is entirely my fault. I am so sorry," Minegishi said. According to BBC News, part of being a member of a girl group like AKB48 is not dating boys because it could "shatter their fans' illusions."

Since the pop star shaved her head it is unknown if she was kicked out of the group or not.
