With the controversial week troubled pop star Justin Bieber has already had laying low wasn’t in the cards. Instead, Bieber was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving under the influence while drag racing in Miami.

Miami Beach police confirmed Bieber’s arrest in a tweet that came from the police department’s official Twitter account. Police revealed that at the time of Bieber’s failed sobriety test and arrest he was drag racing down a Miami Beach street in a yellow Lamborghini.

Miami Dade-Police spokesman Sgt. Bobby Hernandez spoke with WSVN and stated that police officers witnessed two cars racing down a blocked off street at 4:09 a.m. One was the yellow Lamborghini driven by Bieber and the other was a red Ferrari.

Officers arrested the drivers of both vehicles and had the vehicles towed from the area. After failing the field sobriety test, Justin Bieber was transported to the Miami Beach police station where he was given a Breathalyzer and processed, according to Hernandez.

Florida law states that people under the age of 21, Bieber is 19, are considered to be driving under the influence if their blood-alcohol content is .02 or more. Law enforcement authorities revealed that it would only take one drink in order to reach a blood-alcohol content of .02.

The first DUI offense in Florida carries no minimum sentence and a maximum sentence of six months, a fine of $250 to $500, and a mandatory 50 hours of community service. In addition, if the offender is under the age of 21, an automatic six-month driver’s license suspension is also enforced.

On the drag racing charge, if convicted the offender will receive a sentence of up six months, a fine of $500 to $1,000 and a mandatory one-year driver’s license suspension.

This month, x-rated, profanity filled text messages that Justin Bieber allegedly sent to ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez were released and police officers in California searched Bieber’s home in connection to the egg-throwing incident he was involved in. Read the text messages HERE.

At the time of the search of Bieber’s residence, police officers arrested Lil Za, a rapper and friend of Bieber’s on suspicion of drug possession.
