Candian pop-punk rocker Avril Lavigne may have no North American concerts on her tour calendar, but that didn't stop her from slipping into Florida over the Memorial Day weekend for a quick show. After demonstrating her baseball skills by throwing out the first pitch at a game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians, Lavigne hung around for a post-game concert. Most of the 24,000+ crowd stayed around after the disappointing Rays loss for the concert, which took place in center field.
The concert was part of the Rays Summer Concert Series, which has hosted bands such as ZZ Top, John Fogerty, Darius Rucker and REO Speedwagon in the past. The 2011 series includes concerts by iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove, The Goo Goo Dolls and Miranda Lambert.
