Pop Evil hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan landed their third #1 single with "Torn To Pieces" from their most recent album ONYX which dropped May 2013. The band saw two previous singles peak at #1 on the Active Rock charts last year. The first was "Trenches" and the second "Deal with the Devil". Frontman Leigh Kakaty says "Words can't explain the feelings I have after finding out and realizing we've just accomplished such a rare feat". It marks one of the few times in chart history that an artist on an independent record label has landed three #1 singles off the same album. On May 22, 2011 at a concert in Columbus, OH, in front of thousands of fans, the band symbolically ripped up their contract with their previous label and announced a new deal with eOne Music.

This most recent hit song is very personal for Kakaty. "Torn to Pieces" is a heartfelt tribute to his late father who passed away around the same time the album was being made. He concludes, "It's been a roller coaster ride of emotions for me. Through all the outpouring of support from our fan base, we've realized that our music can share common ground and help others during rough times." Pop Evil encouraged their fans to tag their own stories and photos of loved ones with #petorntopieces. On their website response was overwhelming and the band thanks their fans for making this song their 3rd No.1 single off ONYX. "There is nothing more haunting & torturous to a human soul than the feeling of losing someone close to you without saying goodbye" is the quote from Leigh you'll find on their website and the link to the #petorntopieces lyric video made with the fans sent memorial photos.

Several weekends ago the band played in front of 40,000 fans at Rock On The Range Festival in Columbus, OH. When they performed "Trenches" the legendary rapper Darryl D.M.C. McDaniels join them on stage for their remixed single that is a bonus track on the deluxe edition of ONYX. The official PE video of this remixed song is a great collaboration which can be viewed here. Also on stage for "Trenches" during ROTR, the band had 13 Marines showcasing the Lima Company Eyes of Freedom Memorial which tours around the country. The video the Lima Company Memorial posted online of the moment can be found here.

Both videos are tremendously powerful. Then to get a taste of the original "Trenches" video which helped launch their first #1 hit off the album, you can see "The Onyx Trilogy" here that has "Behind Closed Doors" and "Deal With The Devil" as well. I suggest catching them live, for their live show is where their individual personalities really shine through and brings it all home.

ONYX is Pop Evils third studio LP. It debuted at #39 on the Billboard Top 200 and #9 on the Independent Chart and has gone on to sell over 85,000 copies in the U.S. alone. On May 19th ONYX was just been release worldwide by eOne after their late winter European tour in support of Five Finger Death Punch.

Pop Evil is currently on tour, check their website for cities and dates and make sure you catch a show!

Members of Pop Evil are: Leigh Kakaty (Lead vocals), Nick Fuelling (Lead guitar), Dave Grahs (Rhythm guitar), Matt DiRito (Bass) and Joshua Chachi Riot (Drums).
