We all love it when a hip-hop artist gets his hands on a rock song and put’s his own little twist into it creating something fresh and fun. Does Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” ring a bell? Rap pioneers Run-D.M.C. took an old classic and gave it new life. Today Entertainment One just announced that legendary rapper Darryl D.M.C. McDaniels is back at it again, this time collaborating with Michigan rockers, Pop Evil to remix the band’s first number one Active Rock single, “Trenches”.
"It’s an honor getting to work with Rap Icon Darryl 'D.M.C.' McDaniels of RUN DMC on our Remix of #1 Rock Single 'Trenches,' says frontman Leigh Kakaty. "Collaborating with D.M.C. has brought the song to a whole new level, and we are very excited to get it out there to see what the future brings."
The remix is part of of a super deluxe version of their latest album, Onyx which will be released on Tuesday, December 17th. The album is available for pre-order now. Pop Evil would like to let fans know that a special surprise will also be debuted on the same day.
The band is currently on tour with Girl on Fire, Young Guns, and ERA 9. The have recently announced a tour with Stone Sour starting in January. What a way to start off the New Year! Be sure to check out their website for dates and cities. And be sure to pick up the new remix of Onyx. It is one of my top five albums for 2013!
