If you are a health-oriented parent of young children, Halloween is enough to make you tear your hair out as your kids contemplate scary costumes and bags full of candy--while you contemplate sugar jags and upset stomachs from all that candy.
If you want a healthy, wholesome Fall activity for your children, take them to the Paideia Classical Academy Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 20th between 2 and 7 P.M.
Your children will enjoy pony rides, a bounce house, pony rides, and a lady bug release. Both you and your kids can eat hot dogs made from organic, grass-fed beef, organic popcorn, and fall desserts.
If you have an interest in organic gardening, check out the school's garden. Started by Karin Fields, the gardening teacher, it circumvents South Florida's poor and bug-ridden soil by using Grow Bags filled with specially blended soil and fertilized with seaweed, bunny poop, and other organic fertilizers. It may even give you ideas for starting your own garden.
