Ponoka cowboy performing well at Calgary Stampede

According to the Calgary Stampede website on Sunday, Jake Vold of Ponoka, Alberta is doing very well after three days of competition at the Calgary Stampede rodeo competition. Vold posted the best score of 87.5 points in the bareback event and now has a commanding lead over the rest of the field.

Vold is now at $12,000 over the three days. He leads Caleb Bennett of Morgan, Utah by $5,000. Vold has also put himself in a strong position to be a Canadian cowboy to have qualified for the Sunday Showdown.

In bull riding, Chase Outlaw of Hamburg, Arkansas continues to lead the field, however his lead has closed to $2,000 after Scott Schiffner of Strathmore, Alberta posted the best score on Sunday. Schiffner posted a score of 89 points to put himself in strong position to qualify for the finals on the weekend.

In saddle bronc, the Louisiana cowboys are doing well. Bradley Harter of Loranger, Louisiana posted the best score at 87.5 points on Sunday. Harter is in second place now in the overall standings behind another Louisiana cowboy in Heith DeMoss.

In tie-down roping on Sunday, the Texans finished first through fourth on day three. Trevor Brazile of Decatur, Texas had the best time at 7.2 seconds. Fred Whitfield continues to lead Brazile in the aggregate standings. Whitfield has $12,500 compared to Brazile at $11,500.

In steer wrestling, Justin Miller of Neepawa, Manitoba was the fastest cowboy on Sunday as he posted a time of 4.1 seconds. Miller now moves into third place in the Pool A standings behind Tyler Pearson of Independance, Louisiana and Bray Armes of Ponder, Texas.

In ladies' barrel racing, Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Texas continued her dominance. Pozzi posted the fastest time on Sunday at 17.48 seconds and now has won $14,500 in only three days.

In chuckwagon racing, there is a new leader in the Rangeland Derby. Jason Glass of High River, Alberta has passed Kirk Sutherland of Grande Prairie, Alberta in the overall standings after posting the fastest time on Sunday at 1:11.24.
