He is truly one of the masters at his craft and has played with countless stars from the jazz and music world. He is Poncho Sanchez. On Sunday, February 24, at 8pm, he will perform at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. The address is 9820 Washington Boulevard. If you haven't been there, it is a delightful 317-seat venue in the heart of the entertainment section of Culver City. The concert is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the Jazz Bakery.
Sanchez is well known for playing latin, jazz, salsa and straight ahead jazz. He will be accompanied by his Latin Jazz Band. Sanchez learned to play different instruments growing up, but the congueros or congas are his signature musical instrument. He plays with so much energy and passion. When you go to one of his concerts, you know that you will be entertained. You will leave with a great feeling about this music. The Jazz Bakery has a website that you can keep up to date on all of the shows that are planned for this year. It is http://www.jazzbakery.org.
