Polukranos, World Eater is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today Aug. 19, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming product "Duel Decks: Heroes vs. Monsters. Revealed in an article by Trick Jarrett on DailyMTG.com, Polukranos, World Eater is one of six preview cards from the upcoming expert expansion set "Theros."
Polukranos, World Eater - 2GG
Legendary Creature - Hydra
XXG: Monstrosity X (If this creature isn't monstrous, put X +1/+1 counters on it and it becomes monstrous.)
When Polukranos, World Eater becomes monstrous, it deals X damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures your opponents control. Each of those creatures deals damage equal to its power to Polukranos.
Polukranos, World Eater can become a 7/7 creature on turn four with help from a mana dork. While Polukranos, World Eater may realistically only deal two to three damage, it's enough to take out utility creatures such as Deathrite Shaman or pesky threats like Frontline Medic. It won't grow every turn as Kalonian Hydra will, yet that won't stop this mythic bad boy from having a large impact on your game.
Polukranos, World Eater doesn't grow the way Jelevna, Nephalia's Scourge or Prossh, Skyraider of Kher do in Commander, however because of the abundance of mana in the format it warrants consideration for any deck abusing +1/+1 counters and packing Doubling Season.
