PollinatorLIVE available to Little Rock homeschools

Homeschools in Little Rock will be happy to know that a free science program for grades four through eight is available. PollinatorLIVE offers homeschool families a free distance learning program that focuses on pollinators, gardening, and citizen science projects.

PollinatorLIVE will feature a series of interactive web casts, web seminars and satellite field trips. Resources on the PollinatorLIVE website will help homeschool parents meet National Science Education Standards.

The following webcasts are scheduled:
March 24, 2010
: 5:30 pm to 7pm central time, this webcast is for educators. Learn how to fund, plan, design, maintain, and use a schoolyard garden during a webcast. Information from this program can be applied to community gardens, homeschool gardens, scout, and 4H garden programs. Speakers include Eliza Russell with the National Wildlife Foundation Schoolyard Program.

April 13, 2010: 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm central time, another webcast for educators. Receive information on the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign's "Nature's Partners" inquiry based curriculum. Find out how to contribute to the "Bee Hunt", "Goldenrod Challenge", and "Lost Ladybug" science projects.

May 12, 2010: 10 am to 1:30 pm, for homeschool students and parents. Join PollinatorLIVE from the Insect Zoo in your Yard schoolyard garden at the National Zoo in Washington DC. Learn about pollinators, pollination, and science projects

September 2010, time and date to be announced. Homeschool students and parents will learn all about bees.
