Poll: Which should Senator Bunning (R-KY) do?

AP Photo/Susan Walsh

Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) has drawn a line in the sand over the left's rampant deficit spending and demanded that Democrats actually start following their own "pay-as-you-go" rules. Hanging in the balance is their latest attempt to reward failure and punish success--yet another extension of taxpayer-funded joblessness.

This is the problem with the left's dependence-creating intrusions and interferences--the nanny state eventually runs out of other people's money to redistribute and the welfare checks simply become unsustainable. Now, we are completely bankrupt and perpetually digging the hole deeper with endless borrowing and printing...and the only thing Democrats have to say for themselves is, "Republicans spent money too."

Incidentally, if we were following the Constitution and keeping the vast majority of the power in this country at the state and local level, none of this would be happening. But instead, we have decided to illegally nationalize all the power away from the individual and into the hands of self-serving Washington parasites bent on exploiting the system as it collapses.

Since Obama signed the highly touted economically responsible PAY GO legislation a few weeks ago, this is the FIRST vote since, and it is exempted from the law Obama just signed!

Bunning is the only one following his oath of office.

  • Chris Studley 2 years ago

Well Larry, lets pray that the REST OF those in office will FOLLOW his lead :)

Stay the course. If you don't have the money in real life, you can't drive the car off the lot. Why is this any different except for the fact that they are not spending their own money. They are spending yours and mine. Someone has to draw a line in the sand and try to bring some sanity into the discussion. Bravo Senator Bunning

This is a serious economic crisis - people need money for food and shelter. You people are inhumane monsters.

Furthermore, "If you don't have the money in real life, you can't drive the car off the lot. "

Are you 5 years old? Driving a car off the lot without paying for it in full is pretty much the ONLY way anyone buys a car.

This is a SHOCKER! A SHOCKER, I tells ya (yeah, right...):

    >>Bunning Enthusiastically Backed Extending Unemployment Benefits That Weren’t Paid For In 2003..... But in 2003, Bunning not only voted for an unemployment extension but also put out a glowing press release lauding the extension of unemployment benefits as “hopeful news for our most needy families in Kentucky...<<

Yes, he didn't actually "individual rights", but he did put into words what all Tea Party people sense, that the government is the enemy of the free choices and actions of us, as individual persons.
We must abolish this democracy and restore a Constitutionally-limited republic, whose only job is that named in the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights: to protect the rights of persons, as individuals.
The clearest definition of "rights" offered by a moral philosopher is that by America's moral philosopher, Ayn Rand. Her essay "Man's Rights" is the sharpest definition of what rights are, what they are not, who has them, what does not, and what violates them. When the country understands what that woman philosopher said, we will have a chance to extablish a country which can make a human future, one worth living in.

    @Paul Beaird
The Declaration of Independence is not a legally binding document, and the "Bill of Rights" Is just one component of the Constitution.

  • An Inhumane Monster 2 years ago

Hey Phil. Quit whinning. The government does not owe you a damn thing except protection of your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! And oh by the way, there is no right to unemployment, healthcare, food stamps or any of the other crap that has put us almost 75 tillion in debt. Unemployed? Me too. Grow a spine, or check to see if your balls are missing you snivelling little beyatch.

Let's go back to the days of unregulated patent medicines and unrefrigerated meats. The FDA is theft!

How about no flight plans, air traffic controllers or aircraft maintenance logs. The FAA is theft!

Anyone can broadcast on any frequency at any strength. There are no police or military channels. The FCC is theft!

  • An Inhumane Monster 2 years ago

That's right! let's go back to the days when whiny, sniveling children actually begged for food in the streets. If the little bastards get sick they better know some really good prayers and not die in front of my house! And that goes for old people too!

  • An Inhumane Monster 2 years ago

Paul. Just because a service is valuable does not automatically mean that government must provided it. Nor am I arguing that there are not legitimate government services to directly protect public safety. However, you are right about one thing -- if government revenues are taken involuntarily it is theft. that would be the "involuntary" part.

But this article and my comments have nothing to do with your little diatribe. this issue is about whether Congress will follow the constitution -- and if not that, at least its own damn rules. Hell the ink isn't even dry on the Buy-Go legislation yet and they are already violating it!

  • Phil 2 years ago

People need cars, how dare you conservative monsters oppose government purchasing a car for every American! People need living room furniture. How dare you conservative monsters oppose taxpayer-funded living room sets!

Screw the proper role of government, screw the national debt, screw the Constitution and screw personal responsibility. We liberals prefer to be emotional and simple-minded instead.

If anyone ever needs anything, then it is the job of government to confiscate someone else's earnings to provide it...even if it bankrupts the country and makes everyone more dependent.

  • Emily 2 years ago

Here's some advice for Congress. If you can't follow a law you pass, then don't pass it!!! If you don't have the money, don't spend it!!! I guess it's easier said than done...

  • Robin N.Y.C. 2 years ago

My line was drawn in the sand for the first and only Bush bail-out...and I've been YELLING NO ever since. Good for Senator Bunning...late, but appreciatiated! Where are the rest of the GOP? Better stand with Sen Bunning..if they think they are going to get my vote in 2010-2012...no middle ground here!

  • frank navy 2 years ago

the poll should ask," should senator Bunning continue to demand that PAGO be the rule they go by"? my answer would be yes.he is not attempting to hold up benefits,he is trying to make these "tax and spend" liberals use the money they already have stolen from the people and haven't used yet.

"Incidentally, if we were following the Constitution and keeping the vast majority of the power in this country at the state and local level, none of this would be happening."

    lolConstitution.

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States..."
