The searches began just after 9 a.m. and the schools remained on lockdown until the schools were searched completely.
The operation is a joint measure including Cedartown and Rockmart police departments and the Polk County and Paulding County Sheriff's Departments.
Parents and students can breath a sigh of relief since no drugs or weapons were discovered during the search of the schools.
Polk County schools are subject to random drug checks at any time during the school year as outlined in the student handbook.
