The Polk County Crime Examiner personally compiles arrest reports that cover the Polk County, Ga. area, including Cedartown, Rockmart and Aragon.

Listed below is the report for Thursday Jan. 17, 2013. The report includes a complete list of arrests, prior arrests, bonding information and inmate photos. Unless specified otherwise, all information is obtained from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The following people were arrested and charged with the violations listed below. Click on the links to view prior arrests and/or additional details.

Jennifer Costlow, 27, of Rockmart was arrested by Polk County Deputy Wagner on a warrant for deposit account fraud. Costlow was released the same day after paying $278.57 cash.

Derek O'Brian Darden, 27, of Rockmart was arrested by Rockmart Police Officer Parker and charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA) and third degree cruelty to children under the Family Violence Act (FVA). Kayla Diane Edgeworth, 22, of Rome was arrested by Cedartown Police Officer Jackson and charged with driving on a suspended license and window tint violation. Edgeworth remains in custody at the time of this publication.

Betty Jean Garrett, 50, of Cedartown was arrested by Polk County Deputy Wagner on a warrant for theft by deception. Garrett was released the same day on an ROR bond per Judge Whiteside.

Thomas Edward Gates II, 31, of Aragon was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Lynch on a warrant for failure to appear in Cedartown municipal court. Gates remains in custody at the time of this publication. See also (12/19/2011)

Angelo Romontaz Mathis, 37, of Cedartown was arrested by Cedartown Police Officer Zuker and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Mathis was released on 1/18 after posting a $5,100 property bond. Kirk D. Owen, 50, of Cedartown was arrested by Polk County Deputy Wagner and charged with felony second degree criminal damage to property. Owen was released the same day after posting a $9,600 property bond.

Kelly Nichole Presley, 29, of Aragon was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Kitchens and charged with possession of arms by convicted felon and first offender probation and theft by receiving stolen property. Presley remains in custody with no bond at the time of this publication. Wanda Lisa Reynolds, 44, of College Park was arrested by Polk County Deputy Swift on a warrant for failure to appear in probate court on an original charge of speeding. Reynolds was released the same day after paying $165 cash.

Robert Shane Turner, 39, of Cedartown was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Wright and charged with loitering and prowling. Turner remains in custody at this time. A cash bond of $205.50 has been set. See also (12/15/2012) (1/27/2011) (12/5/2010) (10/16/2010)

Dustin McClain Ward, 28, of Aragon was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Kitchens and charged with possession of arms by convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property and parole violation.
