If the politics of politicking by both parties aren't driving you to the point of almost throwing up, you are probably already in a coma. The sheer lack of respect for the average voter is disgusting. We have always made jokes about corrupt , egocentric and absolutely self centered politicians but when we get to see them act like so with absolute impunity and in relative anononimity protected by the politics f the moment , it is really infuriating.
$67.9 billion in all in 2013, as tabulated by Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation were turned over to special interests hidden in plain sight within the pages of the special deal cut to keep us from going off the "Frankenstein" piece of legislation created by Congress itself to force it to deal with this issue. A concept that Congress has been trying to get around ever since.
These are not new or recent items, they have been slated for exclusion from the tax breaks by both parties for a very long time. However, the represenatives that included them in the deal have not been specifically named yet, But they sure should be so that the American public can see who is betraying our county's interests over their supporters and lobbying donors.
just check out some of the items included by these "Representatives" of the people in this "emergency" deal:
Most of the tax breaks had been scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, 2011, and as long ago as February, lawmakers were seeking a way to revive them. Eventually, they were packaged together as the Family and Business Tax Cut Certainty Act of 2012. It was so titled because "people need certainty to plan their finances, and businesses need certainty to hire, invest and grow," as Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Finance Committee, said when the committee passed the package in August.
Once it was out of committee, the deal could move no further. It was only until a lame-duck Congress just hours away from going home without having addressed the fiscal cliff substituted it almost word for word into the deal brokered by Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
It makes up Titles III and IV of the final bill, with many of the alterations reading like this:
Paragraph (1) of section 7652(f) is amended by striking "January 1, 2012" and inserting "January 1, 2014".
(If you want to see what changed, here's the Family and Business Tax Cut Certainty Act of 2012 (.pdf) and here are the changes made to it in the final bill (.pdf).)
There is no better definition than "lazy" and "uncaring" for this kind of action. Already we had reported the lack of empathy from Congress to their constituency we have read studies saying that Congress responds to donors preferentially unless, the people really get annoyed and start sending letters and calling them . And, even then it can be difficult to get hese "Representatives" of the people to do the right thing.
Here are just a few of the last minute giveaway pork items:
-- A rule allowing TV and film producers to write off the first $15 million in production costs inside the U.S. The value over 10 years of that provision is pegged at $248 million.
-- A provision allowing motorsport race tracks to more quickly write off improvement costs, valued at $78 million. McCain described it as "tax incentives for NASCAR track builders."
-- A 50 percent tax credit for expenses related to railroad track maintenance through 2013 -- worth $331 million.
-- Increased tax rebates to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands from a tax on rum imported into the United States. The U.S. imposes a $13.50 per proof-gallon tax on imported rum, and sends most of the proceeds to the two U.S. territories. The tax break is worth $222 million over 10 years.
-- A tax credit of up to $2,500 for buying electric-powered vehicles was expanded to include electric-powered motorcycles, at a cost of $7 million.
-- A tax credit for the production of wind, solar and other renewable energy, at a cost of $12.2 billion.
"They were just crammed into the bill literally in the middle of the night," McCain told Fox News Radio. "The American people deserve better and we have now earned their well deserved disdain about the way we do business."
Ask yourselves with as much honesty as you can muster is it even possible for Congress to fix itself so as long there are lobbyists on the Hill and, Representatives of the People are allowed to be hired by companies they supported while doing the People's work?
Is there really any chance of getting the thieves and corrupt politickers out of government? It would seem that the only way to get rid of the money mongers is to get rid of money in political races and campaigns. So, why are you not raising heck to your local, regional and federal politicians to get rid of these. Why is it that the public (that means you) can still be swayed by advertising, robo-calls and guided misinformation from partisan pundits?
Wake up America, before the spectre of a real depression and total political chaos does take over our nation. Speak up and don't let your Pastor, your local community leader or any other opinion pacify your ned for action in government now. You can't wait, your family can't wait, your neighbors can't wait and most of all, our country can not wait for the politically or, financially privileged wanting to satisfy their selfish agendas (not all politicians are corrupt and, not all financially privileged people have selfish agendas but, they certainly make the majority of the "influence" class) to run our lives like we were just so much live stock.
