Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger
I wrote just last week about Sen. Mikulski and her ridiculous reply to me about making Sen. Chris Dodd answer to an ethics committee about his involvement in AIG, and his wife’s involvement. Mikulski chose not to answer my request, but instead spew her propaganda about AIG executive pay and bonuses.
It seems that this type of reply has become contagious, because when I made that request of Mikulski, I also contacted Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger about Rep. Barney Frank’s involvement in the failures of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the relationship Frank had at the time with the well-know executive. I felt there should be an ethics investigation on his actions. The following reply I got was more bizarre than Mikulski’s was, and far more laden with propaganda.
I am so disgusted at the replies I get from these “representatives”, and the worst part of all this is how the so called representatives are using or email addresses (like Obama), for pushing their own agenda, instead following the will of the people. This letter was so bizarre I had to check the heading first, and sure enough it was entitled “reply.”
Dear Mr. Ritter:
As your representative in Congress and member of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Intelligence, I would like to take this opportunity to update you on a pressing matter of national security. Our nation's networks power our computers, cell phones, Blackberries and I-pods, and the electrical grid that allows us to turn the lights on. Every day, millions of Marylanders use the Internet to do routine tasks, from buying books on Amazon to balancing their checkbook online. When we share personal information over the Internet, most of us take proper precautions to prevent identity theft. Similarly, the government is working to protect sensitive electronic military and defense files from hackers who may try to access them.
Cyber warfare has been going on for several years. Earlier this month, a widespread and coordinated attack from an unknown enemy targeted the computer networks of major government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Trade Commission. In the past, hackers have penetrated the networks at the Department of Defense and NASA, accessing high-level information and costing our country millions of dollars. While the attackers did not steal any data, the attacks show that our systems remain vulnerable.
As chairman of the Intelligence Committee's Technical and Tactical subcommittee, I am committed to shoring up our defenses against cyber attacks. I am pleased to report that President Obama shares my concerns and the federal government is already partnering with the private sector to address this issue. Congress is also working on a robust comprehensive plan to keep our computer networks safe and secure from future and evolving cyber attacks.
We recently completed a review of how the federal government is using technology to protect critical information such as passport applications, tax records and national security documents from hacking and theft. I am also pleased that, soon, our nation will have a new, cabinet-level "cyber czar" to specifically focus on protecting our cyber networks. We are also creating a new command that will defend military networks against computer attacks and develop offensive cyber weapons.
There is still much work to do, but please rest assured this is a top priority for me as your Congressman. To receive additional information about issues that are facing Congress, Maryland and the Nation and which may affect you and your community please visit my website at

C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger
Member of Congress

Tony Snow would have had a field day with this. He used to chew up and spit out people who evaded a direct question, and this is not just evading, it's totally ignoring. Yet another idiot in office who has forgotten that he was elected into and can be elected out of that very same office.
Just a SAD excuse for representation.
It is time for a revolution.
I was contacted by Ruppersberger's office, not 5 hours after this article was posted, funny how an article can spawn one to action. She told me this letter wasn't in fact a reply to my question, as they haven't had time to send me a reply to that yet. Funny how they found time to call me so quickly after posting this article, but take months to answer the things that are important to me.
She explained that the "reply" I got was mislabeled, and should have been labeled as an "update from Dutch"......still looks like the same propoganda I get from Obama.
Ahh, the old "cover your ass" phone call. Some poor peon probably got chewed for doing exactly what the "boss" told them to do, until someone stands up and says now wait just a minute! I'm with Happy, it IS time for a revolution.
They are far left Liberals and follow "the will of Obama", and not the will of the people.
I agree with Happy Indep, its time for a revolution.
Well...here is just another example of politicians spewing forth with "their" agenda. Forget what "the people" want or need. What "the people" really need is to somehow address how to get rid of the politicians, set term limits, have them ALL involved in Social Security, and have raises established on an unhidden agenda. Too simple...but with them responsible to no-one but themselves...farther into oblivion America proceeds, with an increased debt the likes nobody could ever repay! God help us.
sounds like big brother is trying to intimidate you little brother....lol
It is ad that this is the SOP with pretty much every reply made by our so-called "representatives". The try to baffle us w/ b.s. rather than dazzle us w/ their brilliance. Thanks for sharing with us.
Other than Emanuel Cleaver, I don't have Reps here that are as bad as the DEMS in Maryland. One suggestion would be to call him out in letters to the editor of local papers, call into locally hosted talk radio shows and ask why this man can not or will not answer a single direct question (give examples of questions and the rep's responses). Email him continually and be sure to copy every newspaper you can think of: Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times and Post and so forth..... Be sure to remaind him in every way possible that he works for the people and not a party and certainly not the President.
You have one thing to be thankful for. At least your Rep hasn't publicly stated that Obama is more popular than God.

Go here and give O'Malley an earful on where he can cut cut more taxpayer funded programs. Starting with these unresponsive elected officials and their perks.
Well, just another typical BS response from our elected leader. He really stayed on task in his response, Al. Were you not clear enough? We must vote him out next election, if the USA survives...and Mikulski and Cardin and O'Malley, etc., etc.
All you got was a canned response. Subliminally, Dutch is telling you that you shouldn't be using the Internet to spread your vial lies against your governement representatives and that they are now watching!!!
Got something to say?
