Polina Edmunds is on her way to the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but before she left she had a big send-off at her school. The sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose had the entire school say good bye and good luck to the Olympic hopeful as she leaves for Sochi. According to the San Jose Mercury News on Friday, there were a few Olympians in the audience too.

Olympic gold medalists Brandi Chastain and Kerri Walsh were also there to cheer on Polina and show support to the school. Both athletes are alum of the school and the moment seemed to be perfect as Polina Edmunds was surrounded by her friends for a final time before taking a plane to Sochi.

“Thank you so much Mitty! My Olympic Send off was unreal, I am so thankful for your support! Proud to be a Monarch!” tweeted Polina Edmunds from her official Twitter account. The star attached a picture to the message so her fans around the world could see her send-off.

Polina Edmunds is one of many athletes making their way to the Sochi Olympics. Looking to get to Sochi before the Olympic Opening Ceremony begins, the star definitely got an epic send-off in grand style.

Will Polina Edmunds win the gold in Sochi? The athlete has been practicing hard on the ice and it’s definitely possible with a perfect program.
