Polina Edmunds got a big send-off to the Olympics on Friday. The sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose had the entire school say good bye and good luck to the Olympic hopeful as she leaves for Sochi. The 2014 Sochi Olympics is only days away and the star had some important people tell her good luck. According to ABC 7 on Friday there were two other Olympic medalists in the audience too.

Olympic gold medalists Brandi Chastain and Kerri Walsh were also there to cheer on Polina and show support to the school as both athletes are alum of the school. The moment seemed to be perfect as the athlete was surrounded by her friends for a final time before taking a plane to Russia.

Polina Edmunds is the youngest athlete on the women's US Olympic Figure Skating Team, but she is determined to do her best to represent America. The ladies on Team USA aren't the strongest when it comes to comparison in world competition they will face, but that might change when the blades hit the ice. Known for her nerves of steel, Polina might be the athlete that pulls out a win for Team USA. Delighted to be going to Russia to compete, Polina might be only 15, but she does know the importance of winning.

Polina Edmunds is going to Russia with the support of her entire school and win or lose it’s a proud moment for San Jose residents.
