Only 15-years-old, this high school student is heading to her first senior international competition, which is none other than the Olympic Games.

Polina first took to the ice when she was only twenty months old. Her mother being a figure skater naturally turned into her coaching Polina, and now the two will be heading off to Sochi.

Polina Edmunds has been working hard on the junior level, trying to make her way to the big leagues and her moment to shine came at the U.S. Championships where she placed second, earning herself the silver medal and a ticket to Sochi.

With a beautiful triple lutz-triple toe combination in her arsenal, this young skater came out and impressed the audience, causing quite a stir. Many knew of her rising potential, but not many believed she would be ready just yet. Being thought of as a lady to keep an eye on in the future, she decided that her future was now and so her journey continues.

“I’m training just like I always have been, nothing different. I’m just training for another competition which just so happens to be the Olympic Games,” Polina said at a conference call on Monday, January 27.

Polina is up against some fierce competitors, one that is also only fifteen, Julia Lipnitskaia from Russia who just won the European Championships on January 17. Though Polina has done well on a national level, her ability will be truly tested at the Olympics where she is up against the best in the world.

When asked about her potential for medaling Polina responded, “I think that for any competition, anything is goal for this competition is to skate two clean programs and to show everyone what I can do in regards to the sport."

With the support of her family, friends and high school this young skater will be heading to Sochi with dreams in hand, and soon it will be discovered if she will be the next Tara Lipinski.
