Police: Westbury man tried to lure teen boy for sex

A Westbury man was arraigned Tuesday accused of attempting to lure a teenage boy into having sex with him, Nassau County police said.

Robert Wilson II, 45, of 356 Magnolia Ave., was charged with first-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor, second-degree aggravated harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cops say on Jan. 4, Wilson engaged in a Facebook and text messaging conversation with a 16-year-old male victim. During the conversation, police alleged that Wilson “did try to induce the victim to engage in a sexual act for his benefit,” a news release said.

The victim’s family became aware of the situation shortly after and then notified the Nassau County Police Department, authorities said. Detectives conducted an investigation and were led back to Wilson. He was arrested Monday night at his home in Westbury, according to cops.

Wilson was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday and was released on $2,500 cash bail. He is due back in court on Jan. 31.
