Two Queens women working at a West Hempstead spa were arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with prostitution and unauthorized practice of a crime, Nassau County police said.
Police said Vice Bureau detectives conducted an undercover operation at the Lucy Day Spa located at 300 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead on Wednesday. Xiuli Gao, 41, of 142-30 Sanford Ave., Apt. 1R and Shu Wen Ai, 44, of Parsons Blvd., Flushing, “did practice massage therapy without a license,” police said in a news release.
The women also offered to “engage in a sexual act for an undisclosed amount of money,” according to cops. They were arrested at the scene and taken into custody without incident.
Over the last two months, eight women have been arrested on prostitution charges at the same spa. The facility was previously known as the Royal Day Spa, noted police. The spa was closed down, but reopened under the new name a few weeks ago, sources said.
Gao and Ai were charged with unauthorized practice of a crime and prostitution. Court records show the women were arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead. They were both released without bail, but Judge David McAndrews ordered the women to undergo medical testing for venereal disease.
