In a sketchy news story sourced by WJTV, an unidentified state trooper in Mississippi was headed to an accident involving a vehicle and a loose horse. Apparently, as the trooper arrived on the scene, another horse – also loose – ran out in front of his car.
The accidents occurred in Meridian, Mississippi. The officer was heading to the first accident scene where a horse had been struck down by a vehicle. As he was responding to the emergency call, he smashed into yet another loose horse that darted into the road directly in front of him. He struck the horse, causing his car to overturn in the road.
Based on officials’ reports, the trooper has not been identified as of this writing. It is known that he was rushed to a Meridian hospital to be checked out, but his injuries were not life threatening and he has been released. Nothing else has been released about the accidents, the conditions of the driver and/or passenger(s). Nothing further is known about the horses, their conditions or owner(s).
The collisions with the horses occurred Saturday night on Highway 15 in Jasper County.
