A teenage girl was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a car in Levittown and investigators are now on the hunt for the driver who fled the crash scene.

Nassau County police say the 13-year-old girl was crossing Hempstead Turnpike near Gardiners Avenue just after midnight when she was hit by a car that was heading east along the turnpike.

She was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center traumatic injuries to her head and body and died around 4:30 a.m., police said.

Police said the driver didn’t stop and was last seen heading east along Hempstead Turnpike and then turning onto the northbound lanes of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. The vehicle is described as a 2011 to 2013 blue Town and Country minivan.
