Police Seek Suspect In Goodwill Store Robbery

Police are investigating whether two separate robberies at two different Goodwill stores are related.

On Friday, just before noon, a man wearing a hood, a ski mask, and armed with a gun came in the Goodwill Store in the 1700 block of East Joppa Road in Towson. Witnesses said he held a gun to the back of a store employee and forced her to go to the cash registers and give him money.

Despite the fact that at least 15 to 20 people were in the store shopping at the time, store employees said he was quiet and left the store without being noticed.

The store closed temporarily after the robbery and about 12 officers secured the store before it was allowed to reopen. A Baltimore county police helicopter aided in the search for the suspect but he was able to get away undetected.

It's unknown how much money was taken and there were no injures reported.

"I was in the store shopping. I overheard the lady on the telephone saying, 'He had a gun in my back. He bought me from the back to the front of the store and made me open the cash register up, give him the money and take him to the other cash register and give him the money.' And I said to myself, 'Oh I wonder when that happened." It's a little scary that he was able to do that with 15, 20 people in the store in broad daylight in the middle of the day. That's a little unsettling." Donna Bosley, a customer who was in the store at the time of the robbery told reporters. She didn't realize what had happened until she heard the victim talking about it at the checkout counter.

In the second incident, a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt came in the Goodwill Store in the 200 block of West Padonia Road in Timonium later that same day shortly before 6:30pm and tried to rob the store. Although nothing was taken from the store, the suspect assaulted a store employee who received minor injures in the process and a medic was called to the scene.

The suspect fled on food and remains at large.
