Police seargeant demoted to desk duty for posting racy Internet photos (Photos)

On Wednesday, various news sources including Cincinnati’s WLW 700 and UPI.com reported that Houston police Sgt. Stacy Suro, 42, has been demoted and removed from street duty. She has now been assigned to the property room.

Suro is a 20-year veteran of the department.

The decision came after an Internal Affairs investigation from last year determined that she had violated the department’s policy that officers must “exhibit professional conduct at all times.” By posting nude photographs of herself on the Internet, Suro violated the department’s policy. In one particular photograph, she was wearing her police shirt with a badge.

Suro had posted more than a 100 nude and sexual fetish photographs on ModelMayhem.com, which she has since removed. She had also posted on her web bio that she was a paid model. The story has been controversial as some online posters defend her by saying she modeled on her own time and it had nothing to do with her work in law enforcement. Her employer has said that officers must always be professional—even while off-duty.
