Police search for teen who stole East Point police squad car

An East Point police squad car was stolen early Wednesday morning from the city, and police are searching for at least one teen for the theft.

The car was taken around 9 a.m., near the corner of Oakland and Main streets, according to Atlanta police.

Officers found the car in southwest Atlanta near Mozley Place and Chicamauga Avenue, police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

As many as two teens were reportedly seen in the car, according to media reports. But no details were released on where they were seen.

One of the suspects is described as a black male in his early teens who was wearing a green shirt and has a scar on his face.

It is unclear how the teens manage to steal the car, or why. And police have not mentioned whether any damage was done to the car.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the suspect is asked to call crime stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
