Police are investigating two bank robberies that happened Saturday morning in Atlanta — and they believe one man committed both crimes, which were an hour apart.

The first robbery happened about 10 a.m. at the Wells Fargo branch at 2204 Peachtree Road, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded to the branch after receiving alarm call, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.

Investigators said a man entered the bank, produced a note and robbed it. But they did not say how much was taken and whether the man indicated being armed.

On Twitter, multiple users said they weren’t allowed near the bank and police had guns drawn, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The second robbery happened around 11 a.m. at the Fidelity Bank at 494 Ponce De Leon Ave., police said. They said the robber produced a note and robbed the bank. Police did not say what was written in either note. It’s also unclear if the suspect left the notes with the teller.

Chafee described the suspect in both robberies as a 6-foot, 160-pound man in his early 20s who was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with “Truck Fit” in white letters, a black Polo shirt, and black cargo pants with a white cloth belt. He had scratches on his right arm and he was in a small, champagne-colored vehicle with an unknown tag, Chafee said.

“It may be the same perpetrator,” Chafee said, according to the AJC.

Both incidents remain under investigation, Chafee said.
