Someone shot a teenager and left him to die inside a southwest Atlanta home Tuesday morning.
Now police are trying to determine who killed the 18-year-old man and why.
On Wednesday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the teen as Mr. Jared Billings, of Atlanta. But they said they have not yet done the autopsy on the teen.
Around 9:15 a.m., officers responded to 1383 Epworth St. after getting a call about a person shot, according to Atlanta police.
“Upon arrival, they found the victim inside the house at this location with a gunshot wound to his chest,” police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said. “He was transported to Grady, where he died.”
Police have not yet provided a motive for the crime, but witnesses told investigators they saw Mr. Billings outside the home with the shooter.
“Witnesses indicated that the victim had been in an argument with another male outside of this location when the other male pulled a gun and shot him,” Officer Jones said.
So far, police have not identified a suspect and they have not provided a description of the man witnesses said shot the teen.
It was unclear why the two were arguing and how the teen got inside the home.
