Police are continuing a search for a Queens woman who went missing Sunday near Gilgo Beach and Monday afternoon, the NYPD released her identity.
Suffolk County police received a 911 call at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday reporting that personal items were found near Ocean Walk in Gilgo. When police responded to the scene, they found an abandoned Toyota Prius in the southbound lanes of Ocean Parkway. That sparked the search for car’s owner, 31-year-old Natasha Jugo.
Police believe Jugo left her home on the Bayside and Queens Village border around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, where she was last seen wearing pink pajama bottoms, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black robe, black coat and black boots. She did not return home and has not been seen since.
Jugo’s car was located just a short distance from the well-known Gilgo Beach, where the bodies of eight women, a man, and a toddler were found between December 2010 and April 2011. Authorities said they do not believe the disappearance to be related to the Gilgo Beach bodies. Those killings remain as open and unsolved cases.
Nassau County Police, Suffolk County Police, and New York State Police investigators were on scene Sunday and again Monday as the search for Jugo continues.
Jugo is described as being 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds with brown eyes and blond hair.
