Police search for man who attempted to kidnap girl, 12, near daycare

Police on Saturday continued their search for a man who attempted to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in Roswell.

The incident happened around 7:40 a.m. Friday when the child was walking to a bus stop on Old Holcomb Bridge Road, according to Roswell police.

She told officers she noticed a black Honda parked at the daycare center, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Holland said.

"As the victim walked by the daycare, the driver of the vehicle pulled out and stopped next to the girl," Officer Holland said. "The driver demanded the child get into his car."

The girl started walking backwards, away from the car, and the Honda pulled away, she told police.

A woman witnessed the incident and escorted the girl to the bus stop where she told the bus driver what happened to the child.

Police began an investigation when the child arrived at her middle school, Officer Holland said.

The suspect is described as a clean shaven, dark-skin black man in his 30s with short hair.

The window of the vehicle was only partially down so the child was not able to get clothing build description of the suspect.
