The police made an official announcement Wednesday that Robert Enke did commit suicide on Tuesday, by stepping in front of a moving train. Enke was killed instantly killed.
Most of the world has found the news both shocking and sad because Enke was expected to play in the 2010 World Cup. Enke, 32 was a goalkeeper for the German national soccer team and played in eight games for the national team. He was also the captain of a German soccer club.
Enke’s wife, Teresa found a suicide note, and said her husband had been battling depression for six years but had done a good job of keeping it a secret from the public.
"I tried to be there for him, said that football is not everything. There are many beautiful things in life. It is not hopeless," she said.
Robert and Theresa’s daughter, Lara died at age two from a heart condition in 2006, and just this year, they adopted a baby girl, Leila who is now 18-months old. Scroll down to see video.
In August, Real Salt Lake team captain Kyle Beckerman said "it would be awesome" if they made it to the world cup finals, but they have been eliminated from the 2010 World Cup finals in Africa.

So sad and tragic. To inflict more pain on his loved one's who now must bear this burden all the more horrific. He had so much more to live for than die for. A loss for humanity yet again. Never give up on what could be good in this realm of life.To triumph over the wrongs in life.
