Police are searching for a man who robbed a West Babylon bank Tuesday afternoon and detectives from the Suffolk County Pattern Crime Unit are investigating, according to a police news release.

The Jan. 14 robbery occurred at 4:10 p.m. at a Chase Bank branch at 523 Montauk Highway in West Babylon, authorities said Wednesday morning.

Police said the suspect – a white man in his mid 20s – walked up to a teller and passed a demand note saying he had a gun. The bank employee complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from the drawer.

Cops said the suspect was last seen on foot heading east on Montauk Highway.

The crook was described as being between 6-foot-5 and 6-foot-7. He has a thin build, was unshaven and was wearing a red and black ski jacket.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
