State University Police officers were called to the scene at 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 1, after a residential student reported being robbed along a bike path near the college’s athletic fields.
According to police, the student was robbed after being approached by a group of men on Circle Road on the west side of the Stony Brook University campus. In a campus alert, authorities said one of the assailants allegedly produced a knife and demanded the student’s phone and wallet.
The victim provided police with a vague description of that man. Cops said they are now looking for a 20-year-old white male last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
After the victim complied with the demands of the armed assailant, cops believe the man and his accomplices fled on foot toward the Long Island Rail Road stop on campus.
No injuries were reported.
University Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident. As of Monday afternoon, police have not made an arrest in the case. Despite that, officials urged in a campus alert that “there is no danger to the campus community at this time.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call University Police at 631-632-3333.
