Police pimp hearing postponed, tire slashing continues in Arlington

A 23-year veteran of Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), who is accused of pandering a minor, had his case postponed yesterday. Linwood Barnhill, 47, currently on disability according to media sources, will have his preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Barnhill was indicted for pimping two teenage girls, one a runaway 16-year-old found in Southeast D.C. and running an alleged prostitution ring.

Police have been questioned by Chief Cathy Lanier to see if other officers are involved. The embarrassing profile of the MPD was further seen in the news this week when Marc Washington, 32, also a policeman, was charged last week with child pornography. He was released from jail, placed on house arrest and had to wear a GPS monitoring device. But Officer Washington is now dead; his body found in the water at Hains Point on Tuesday night. Whether there was a connection between Washington and Barnhill is under investigation.

Tire slashing in Arlington\

A wave of tire slashings is occurring in Arlington, VA.; mainly in the Hall Hill neighborhood since Nov. 19. The slashings have taken a grind on the residents financially in replacing the tires. Some neighbors stated the same incident happened two years ago.

The Arlington Patch and other media sources reported that more than 70 tires have been slashed; some for a second time by the culprit.

"A crime of this nature doesn't take a lot of time to pull off," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. "And it was more than 36 tires. Each of the vehicles that were struck had either one or two tires slashed."

Sternbeck estimated about 50 tires in all were punctured.

All of the cars were in a two- to three-block radius around the 1800 block of North Dinwiddie Street.

A neighborhood meeting will be held on the tire slashing incidents at the Langston Brown Community Center at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 18.
