Police on exorcism: Tiny children stabbed to death in Maryland by their mother

Police in Maryland said a mother killed her children while performing what was called an exorcism that took place in a Germantown home.

According to the Baltimore Sun on Jan. 19, law enforcers charged Zakleya Latrice Avery with two counts of first degree murder for ending the lives of two of her kids, ages one and two.

The 28-year old parent was also charged with attempted first degree murder since two other kids were involved in this horrible situation that involved stabbings. These children, five-year-old Taniya Harris and eight-year-old Martello Harris, are now in the hospital following the vicious attack which happened this past Friday.

Avery is being held without bond as is her alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Monifa Denise Sanford.

The Baltimore Sun said that while police are considering information that points to the mother having been treated for an undisclosed type of mental illness, her former Facebook page "contained pictures of the children, as well as postings about God and the devil."

Meanwhile, a makeshift memorial has been erected at the scene of the crime where flowers, candles, and teddy bears now mark the spot. In addition, a Saturday evening vigil was to honor these little children who were apparently stabbed to death in what the police say was an attempt at an exorcism.
