Police in Ohio determined to find person who dumped deaf puppy by road

Police in Brimfield, Ohio, are hoping to find out who dumped an adorable, deaf puppy alongside Tallmade Road on Saturday.

According to Monday's Ohio.com News, the female boxer was found in a box.

The Brimfield Police Department posted a photo of the puppy on their Facebook page, and the outpouring from the community was tremendous.

Early Monday morning, the department posted the following:

YIKES!!....we have been flooded with emails and calls this morning. Thank-you to all of you who want to help the "underdog" here. The puppy is now at "One of a Kind" pet rescue...

Chief David Oliver is not pleased with whoever abandoned the puppy along the busy road, telling Ohio.com:

“We figured the puppy was not ‘lost’ simply because ‘lost’ dogs are not left in a cardboard box on the side of a busy highway. To say I am aggravated about this would be a greatly minimizing,”

He went on to say that whoever did this "lacks character."

Rather than immediately turning the puppy over to a shelter for care, she was kept at the department to be looked after by employees.

Amazingly, there were some individuals who chose to berate the department for caring for a puppy, rather than "doing police work."

Chief Oliver has a message for those people:

For the select few of you who busted our chops about "doing police work" instead of looking out for a puppy left on the side of the road in a box....pound salt.

Chief Oliver has a message for the person responsible for dumping this pup:

“If you are the person who dropped this puppy off, I am willing to speak with you about your error in judgment, if you call us first,”

“If we have to find you, the time for talking will be with a judge.”

Adding:

If you are the one who left her on the side of the road...call me. The clock is ticking....
