On Friday, a horrifically neglected dog was rescued from the streets of South Los Angeles, Calif., by a police officer who was shocked by her sad state of health.
The officer rushed the dog, dubbed "Huerita," to the Pet Care Center.
Huerita was described as the most neglected dog ever seen, by staff at the veterinary clinic.
The list of maladies impacting this pitiful dog is long...both of her ears have been cut off and they were filled with maggots when she was initially discovered, she has been horribly over bred, and she had two deceased puppies rotting inside of her body.
Shortly after Huerita was rescued, urgent pleas were issued to rescuers both near and far; answering that plea were perfect strangers who were devastated to see the condition of the homeless dog who had been abandoned on the streets...
Donations for Huerita's care were phoned in to the Pet Care Center - enough so that she could undergo surgery and spend, what may have likely been her first ever, night inside of a warm building where she was safe and cared for.
Huerita is not yet out of the woods and her condition is still critical; help for her continued care is also needed.
Assistance from a reputable rescue or foster (all inquiries will be verified for legitimacy/safety) is welcome - anyone who can help with Huerita's future care is asked to contact firstname.lastname@example.org or Alex at PCC 323-294-4030.
Donations for Huerita's care can be made to: Pet Care Center at 323-294-4030
