One man is dead and other is recovering after they were both shot early Sunday morning when two masked men broke into their house, Suffolk County homicide detectives said.
The Dec. 8 shooting is being classified as a home invasion robbery, authorities said. Seventh Precinct officers responded to a 911 call at 3:24 a.m., which reported that two men – their faces covered with masks – broke into a home at 142 East Moriches Blvd., announced a robbery and fired several gunshots.
Detectives said two men who lived in the house were shot during the incident. One of the men, Francisco Pirir, 45, was killed. The other resident, whose identity was not released, was shot in the hand, cops said. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.
No arrests had been made in the case, as of Sunday afternoon.
A source said a number of tenants lived in the home, including the two victims. A phone number was not listed in public records.
Detectives are continuing the investigation and police ask anyone with information to call Homicide Squad investigators at 631-852-6492 or anonymously call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
