Police are investigating the early Sunday morning shooting death of a 24-year-old Jackson man outside a nightclub, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.

The release said the preliminary investigation has showed that Jamar Rogers had just left the Ultra Lounge, located at 1869 U. S. 45 Bypass, and was getting into a car on the nightclub’s parking lot.

As he did, Rogers was struck by a bullet, the release said. The driver drove Rogers to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after Rogers fell inside the car after being shot.

The release said Rogers was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival at the hospital after 3 a.m. Sunday.
