Friday, Los Angeles police said they have arrested a man who was charged for stealing a piece of the wrecked car that Paul Walker died in on Saturday, according to CNN. Saturday night, once the wrecked 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that Paul Walker was in had been put on a tow truck, a witness said they saw someone get out of their vehicle and pull a piece of the wreckage off the tow truck at a stop light.
Friday, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said:
"A witness saw a male exit a vehicle that was following the tow truck. The male grabbed a piece of the wrecked Porsche off the tow truck bed."
The suspect was identified as Jameson Witty, 18, after a piece of the red wrecked car was found at a home in Canyon Country in Santa Clarita. The sheriff’s department said that another suspect has also been identified in connection with the theft and will surrender himself to police Friday.
The sheriff’s department said that both men may be charged with felony grand theft and tampering with evidence, but the district attorney will make that decision.
Paul Walker died Saturday night in Santa Clarita in the car accident. Paul Walker had just left a holiday toy charity event for “Reach Out World Wide” when Paul Walker jumped into the passenger seat of the car with the man who owned the car. The car crashed about 500 yards from the event and witnesses could hear the crash from the event.
