Robbery Homicide detectives arrested suspect Gerhard Becker for his involvement in the death of Los Angeles City Firefighter, Glen Allen, who died as a result of injuries sustained while fighting a fire in the Hollywood Hills on Feb. 16, 2011.

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, just after 7:45 p.m., LAPD robbery homicide detectives with the assistance of agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Gerhard Becker, a 48-year-old German national residing in Mallorca, Spain, as he exited a flight at Los Angeles International Airport. Becker was identified as the suspect in the death of Firefighter Glen Allen, who was critically injured while fighting a fire at Becker’s Hollywood Hills residence in the 1500 block of Viewsite Drive. Allen died from his injuries two days later on Feb. 18, 2011. Allen was 61.

The arrest is the result of a year-long, joint investigation between the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) and the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Arson Unit, which also included the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Today, investigators will formally present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. Becker is currently in custody at LAPD’s Metropolitan Detention Center on a No-Bail, probable cause warrant.
