Port Orange Police are searching for a dark-colored, late 80s to early 90s, Ford F-150 pickup truck, after a shooting Saturday night. Assistant Port Orange Police Chief Wayne M. Miller says the truck “…has a Ford decal or emblem of the Ford make on the sides of the pick-up truck bed toward the rear of the truck…[and] it has a chrome handle on the tailgate of the vehicle.”
Police say 46-year old Kanwaljit Singh of Port Orange was driving west over the Port Orange bridge Saturday night around ten til midnight, when the pickup truck “…pulled alongside Singh’s vehicle in the inside lane as the vehicles neared the top of the bridge.” Police report that several gunshots were fired from the truck, hitting Singh’s car near the door handle. Singh told police he pulled over on the bridge and discovered that he had been shot in the upper thigh and left lower torso. His 13-year old son who was also in the car was not injured. Singh called 911 and proceeded to Dunlawton Avenue and U-S 1, where he pulled over off of the bridge. The dark-colored Ford pickup was reported to have turned south on Halifax Drive and left the area. Port Orange Police poured over the area but were unable to locate the pickup truck.
Assistant Chief Miller says Singh was transported to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, and was listed in critical but stable condition following surgery. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Port Orange Police Detective Jeff Wenzel at 386-506-5884.
