According to KATU News, a police canine is missing in Portland, Ore., following a shootout which took place early Wednesday morning.
The sable German shepherd's handler, who has not been publicly identified, was injured in the exchange, which took place around 3 a.m. near Southwest 30th Avenue and Barbur Boulevard. The officer is currently in the hospital with injuries which are described as "non life-threatening."
Around 6 a.m., the suspect was arrested - it is unclear if the man was injured.
With regards to the missing K-9, police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson stated:
We believe the dog may be injured in the exchange of gunfire,
“We are asking residents at Capitol Highway to give us a call if they have any information or see anything. This dog is a German Shepherd, fairly large, wearing a police tactical vest and markings.”
Anyone who spots the missing dog is asked to call 9-1-1.
