Police investigating Wednesday night shooting, victim remains in hospital

Jackson police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting which injured a Jackson man who remained hospitalized Thursday, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.

The release said at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday, Jackson police were called about a shooting in the apartment complex located at 33 Carver Avenue. A 23-year-old Jackson man told officers that he was on the steps of an apartment at the A building when he was approached by two black men wearing all black. They began shooting and he was struck on the left hand and the upper part of his left leg. Evidence at the scene indicated that a shotgun was fired.

The man was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he was admitted for his injuries, the release said. As of noon Thursday, he remained in the hospital.

Police are attempting to determine a motive and identify suspects.
