Police are investigating an early Tuesday morning shooting and are searching for the shooter, according to a news release from The Jackson Police Department. No injuries were reported.
The release said at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, Jackson police responded to the parking lot of 161 W. University Parkway. A woman told officers that she was driving in the area of Fairway Blvd. and Moize Cut-Off Road when someone shot at her from a Nissan Maxima.
The woman drove to the parking lot and the Maxima followed her to the parking lot before leaving, the release said. The woman was not injured and there was no indication that her vehicle had been struck.
About 10 minutes later, an officer saw a car matching the description of the Maxima in the area of N. Royal Street and Oak Park Drive. The Maxima crashed into a utility pole near the intersection and the driver ran away.
While officers were working the crash scene, they found evidence of the shooting inside and around the car, the release said. The car was towed to the police department for further investigation.
