Police are investigating the reported rape of a missing 16-year-old who said she was held against her will and sexually assaulted Sunday at a man's home in Athens.
It’s unclear how long the teen was missing and police have not released any details on where she was found or how.
Still, investigators with the Athens-Clarke County police said they responded to the area of Spring Valley Road around 7 p.m. in an attempt to find the missing teen.
“The juvenile was located and stated that she had been with a 31 year old male subject who had approached her and intimidated her into leaving with him,” police spokesman Sgt. Tony Kincaid said Monday in a news release.
“The victim was assaulted at the suspect’s home.”
Police said they have identified a possible suspect, but so far no one has been arrested. And they have not released any details on the circumstances of the teen's abduction.
