A man pulled over a motorist on Hulmeville Rd in Bensalem during the early morning hours of Sept. 16,2013, only he was not a cop. Bensalem Police released the information about this incident the next day. The man appeared nervous as he approached the driver of the vehicle, who was a male.
After he requested the license of the driver, the driver began to be suspicious and exited the vehicle. At that point in time,the fake cop terminated the car stop and drove north on Hulmeville Rd. He was driving a white Chevy Impala with red and blue police lights on the dash, grill and on the rear deck. The male was tall in his 40's, sharp features, light beard.
If you have seen this vehicle or know who this man is,you are urged to contact Bensalem Police at (215) 633-3719, Bensalem Twp.Director of Public Safety Fred Harran told the Examiner "If you are not sure if the person behind you is cop real cop, drive to the nearest police station, with your hazard lights on. If it's a real cop they will get on the radio and call it in and you will have more officers behind you. At that time, it is time to stop, You can also call 911 to ask if there is a cop behind you", Harran said.
Bensalem Officers have different uniforms. "Bike cops may have polo type shirts and the motorcycle cops will have something else", Harran further stated.
In Bensalem, there have been cases of undercover officers getting pulled over by police imposters. During one instance, the imposter told a Sgt.that he was with numerous Federal Agencies and had bogus credentials. He was arrested.
