Police identify suspect in kidnapping of 10 year old California girl

On March 30, 2013, police announced they are seeking a suspect, Tobias Dustin Summers, in last week’s abduction of a 10 year old San Fernando Valley, Calif. girl, reports CTPost.com.

Summers, 30, is described as a transient with a criminal history. He has a tattoo of a “ghoulish face on his right arm, reports CTPost.com, and NBC Bay Area notes he is about 6-foot-tall, 160 pounds, and has blue eyes and blond hair.

According to CTPost.com, Summers has been out of prison for less than a year after serving time for petty theft. Prior to that his record indicates he’s been arrested for kidnapping, grand theft auto, possession of explosives, and robbery.

The California girl was reported missing in the early morning hours of March 27, after her mother went to check on her and found she was gone.

According to NBC, police believe she was snatched sometime between 1 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. and was then taken to an abandoned home near a storage facility in Chatsworth. She was subsequently dropped off near a Kaiser Hospital facility in Woodland Hills.

The next day, the 10 year old walked about a mile in bare feet to a local Starbucks where someone recognized her due to the publicity surrounding her disappearance, and notified authorities.

She had bruises and cuts on her face and told police she did not know the two men who kidnapped her from her home. According to NBC, she informed authorities her abductors transported her in a black pickup truck, which was recovered by police during the search of a local moving company’s storage yard.

A second vehicle is also believed to have been used in the case.
