A Hampton Bays man who called police to report he had been attacked found himself in handcuffs early Friday morning after shoving a cop to the ground, Southampton Town Police said.

Franco Amaya, 19, is expected to face a judge Friday morning at Southampton Town Court after being charged with resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.

Police said Amaya called 911 at 2:11 a.m. to report he had been assaulted at a party, but when police responded they found Amaya “was not injured.” Cops say they checked the area and didn’t find a party nearby.

Authorities said Amaaya was intoxicated and became belligerent and “verbally abusive” toward the officers. He also allegedly lunged at a cop – knocking him to the ground, according to a news release.

Amaya was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.
