Police get their man in search for murder suspect in Tierrasanta

A tense search for a murder suspect ended peacefully Tuesday evening in the Tierrasanta area, according to San Diego Police.

The search for Matthew Rowley of Corona ended around 6 p.m. in a residence, this after authorities say the man's family told police he was hiding at the Montanosa Apartment Homes. The suspect surrendered without incident, according to a FOX 5 report.

During the search, five area schools went into lockdown in order to protect students and staff, with the orders ending after about an hour and a half.

Police noted that the 22-year-old was wanted in connection with a murder investigation involving a fatal shooting that occurred in Corona some two weeks ago.

Investigators previously took into custody Patrick Kohler, 22, of Riverside on suspicion of driving the killer out of the area. Rowley subsequently was named as the alleged shooter.
