Investigators determined the Dec. 8 blaze at Purr-fect Cleaners on South Central Avenue was arson, police said. They are now turning to the public for assistance in locating the individual responsible for the crime.
The incident was reported to authorities at 4:55 a.m., when a 911 caller reported seeing smoke near Merrick Road and Central Avenue. When police officers arrived in the area, they found flames shooting out of the business at 38 South Central Ave., a news release said.
More than 50 firefighters with the Valley Stream Fire Department worked to douse the flames. Police said no injuries were reported.
